What: The U.S. Census Bureau will hold a news conference to release two reports: Income, Poverty, and Health Insurance Coverage in the United States: 2004, containing findings from the Current Population Survey (CPS); and Income, Earnings, and Poverty Data from the 2004 American Community Survey (ACS). The CPS findings are for the nation and states, while the ACS findings pertain to states, as well as counties and cities of 250,000 or more people. The ACS report also includes a comparison of earnings for men and women by selected characteristics, including industry and occupation.

When: Tuesday, Aug. 30, at 10 a.m. EDT

What makes this an effective press release, and how is it different from ineffective press releases? How does it succeed where others fail?

2. It works for me

As a civilian who occasionally writes releases for local events of my committee. It has it all, format, contact information, digest, how to link to sattelite feeds, transportation.

I never said others fail, just that it seems very complete to me.

4. Exposure

How about going to where the local weatherman /woman broadcast from and holding a small protest signs etc... Almost every local weather person broadcasts from outside every nice day and you often see people in the background doing cute/funny things. Lets do so serious things instead. Would this be effective?
