"Some of you may know about the ongoing genocide in Darfur, even though there has been an appalling lack of media coverage of this tragedy. I have recently joined an online campaign organized by the American Progress Action Fund and the Genocide Intervention Fund to ask our major TV news networks to be a witness to genocide by providing more coverage of Darfur.

To help pressure them, APAF and GIF filmed a TV ad which contrasts the near round the clock coverage of Michael Jackson, Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise and the Runaway Bride as compared to the lack of coverage of Darfur. It is an incredibly powerful ad, so powerful that members of our community have donated money to air the ad on the very networks that have not covered the genocide. I have just learned that NBC-4, CBS-9 and ABC-7 in Washington, DC have refused to air the ad.

I am asking you today to please go to www.beawitness.org/action today and tell these stations to air the ad.
