5. I called the 202 number and they re-routed me to my state

The woman I talked to (my senator's office) said they are trying to figure out what to do. I suggested - send down planes and helicopters to drop MRE's and water and she said that is not a state decision, only the White House can authorize that and they haven't. So - wtf?

They are trying to figure what is under their authority (state authority, not federal) that they can actually do. She said they are just trying to figure out *what* to do, not in the actual act of doing anything (ie. shipping supplies) at the moment.

This woman was exhausted and sounded pretty helpless. What's the deal?

Isn't this why we have disaster plans inplace? So we don't have to have our state officials stuck at the starting gate bcs they don't know what they legally *can* do?

i am embarrassed. this govt has to go remember this come nov. elections are coming, boy they flew back for shivo but not for this. did you see them all patting themselves on the back on what a good job they were doing. i can't stand the smirk on his face people are dying what is the mater with him. i have emailed every station and have emailed all of the people in washington someone has to be listening. this time i am embarresed with the news media if it wasn't for them none of this would have gotten out and we would not know what is really going on. thanks for letting me vent. i want to scream.
