The Bush administration is back at it with full force, trying to equate patriotism with supporing whatever they want. In response, we put up a whole new section of posters with a "Support our Troops" theme..."Support our troops--don't cut their benefits", "Support our troops--demand answers for them."
Last night, I read this awful story about an injured soldier from the Iraq war who was being threatened with being sent to collections for not having paid for his hospital food yet. Too long to make into a poster, but more motivation for us to get the word out. I'm glad that the democratic candidates are starting to speak out more out against the Bush administration policies. But that always seems to be spun as a political move--Bush is being questioned by his opposition, because that's what you do in a campaign. More regular people need to be involved in calling attention to what Bush has done.
And since "Support our Troops" is a sentiment that everyone seems to at least pay lip service to, we thought these posters could be a good way to get people's attention, and at least make them aware of the issues.
