1. Oh God! With Patti Smith?!
She gave a free concert here to thank all the activists for their hard anti-war work and it was FANTASTIC.

I would love to make this but sigh... it's too far.

I envy all the DUers who'll be able to!

Go Dennis!

2. Dean supporters should go to this event
and make some friends!

If "defence of marriage act" Gephardt
and "let's kill Arafat" Leiberman & Kerry get their way
and derail Dean's campaign,

your support should go to real progressives
and not these slimeball status quo prigs.

One more time: back to Nader & Kucinich

thank you Joe Leiberman, you slimebag whore

4.  I'm going to the next Dean event
Want to ask the man my questions in person and experience him for myself. Some experiences can not be captured on paper or on film.

Peace

12. I know what you mean-
I went to the Harkin Steak Fry. My friend is in a wheelchair and couldn't get out in the rain because of fear that the rain could short out her battery. I was walking back to the car and Dean was a few steps ahead of me. I asked him to say hi to her since she couldn't get out. He came over to the car and thanked her for coming. I have no doubt DK would have done the same thing. Unfortunately, he has in the past prioritized the "life" of a fertilized egg over the research for medical treatments that could help her. Disease is one of those experiences. To have ever in a lifetime entertained such a notion and acted on it legislatively is too many times. There is no way to forgive his vote on stem cell research if you have a debilitating disease like MS.

13. I understand you about the Stem Cell Research
And I understand Christopher Reeves also. Personally, I have no issue with Kucinich over this because it's a sensitive topic for me, even if I do work in Biotech...

I admire DK for working hard at fighting all the contributing factors to the modern glut of diseases that are handi-capping so many of us.

MS, with its disruption to the glycosylation of the dystroglycan protein is a particular concern of some of the researchers in my company.

((Dystroglycan with its normal complement of glucose molecules has a role in synapse formation in the brain and in the neuromuscular junction, where nerve signals are translated to muscular use.))

Have you noticed that it's since the introduction and high consumption of genetically modified foods, toxic concoctions like Aspartame (Nutrasweet), and the polluting of our air and water that we've had so many diseases to combat?

That's my take on it and why I can understand him. I can't excuse the people who year after year have not said one word against genetically modified organisms and environmental destruction. Where is the FDA? Staffed with Monsanto men who where equally appointed under both Dem and Rep administrations. Why is this? Why is the FDA so rotten and beholden to corporate interests that it allows all sorts of poisons to be mixed into our foods? The way I look at it, all the stem cell research in the world won't help until we take care of that problem first.

This is a difficult, confusing issue loyalsister- and I understand your feelings totally! I'm just more in admiration of someone who works so hard to combat the causes than I am of the people working so hard to excuse them (our reps I mean).

Peace and good luck to you.

8. Youre good at what you do Al
I went to the democracy rising event in Baltimore this past June 26. I really enjoyed myself, although I was disappointed that DK wasnt there. This really sounds like it will be great.
