Last week at the White House Correspondents Association Dinner,
comedian Stephen Colbert delivered a scathing satirical commentary on
the Bush Administration -- right in front of President Bush himself.

you probably didn't even hear about it.

It's ironic that at the annual gathering of this nation's elite
journalists, the only one with the courage to tell the honest truth
was a comedian. It sure speaks volumes to the media's failure to ask
the Bush administration hard questions and hold it accountable.

Let's go ahead and ask America's major media outlets -- why the
silence on Colbert? Were you uncomfortable with his courage in
pointing out that you have not really been carrying out the

10. I thought I would post the "in-my-words" ...

Here are the "my words" I added to this petition before I sent it out to the media:

My words added here: Can any of you, for just one minute, shrink from thinking everything is all about YOU and how YOU feel about things? How many vacations have any of you media-types had this year? Hmmm? My husband hasn't had a vacation OR a raise in 3 years. In fact, his health benefits were CUT BACK this year. We now live pay check to pay check for the first time since we were married 9 years ago. We own a 97 Saturn station wagon and a 2000 Hyundai accent. We live in a modest neighborhood and have one autistic son. My husband works 60-80 hours per week. Unfortunately, this is now "uniquely American".

Rich people start wars while poor people die in them and their children will pay for them. THE VERY LEAST ANY OF YOU COULD DO FOR THE HARD WORKING POOR AND DWINDLING MIDDLE CLASS IS LET THEIR VOICES BE HEARD! And show some respect.

When we write to you with our opinions, PLEASE refrain from proving to us you're all arrogant, egotistical bullies by replying to us with flaming, self righteous comments about how important your programs are! We aren't your friends. We aren't your families....WE ARE YOUR AUDIENCE!! HEAR US NOW! Stop dismissing the "blogosphere". Allow me to inform you, WE ARE THE BLOGOSPHERE. LISTEN TO US!

Do you even realize the vast majority of good, intelligent people in this country have completely STOPPED turning on their television sets? They turn to NPR for their news now. Give us a REASON to watch you! Show us you care about what we're thinking and what matters to US! I guarantee people will tune in if word gets round SOMEBODY on television is showing respect and concern for the average American voice.

To quote Jon Stewart, "Stop, stop, stop, stop hurting America."
