Going to NOLA in late August or early September.

I decided that I really want to head to NOLA and help with the clean up. I've done a lot of not-hands-on stuff, which I think is good, but I want to do more. So, I decided that any and all extra money I make will go toward my going to, and staying in NOLA. Roll up my sleeves, put on the gloves and mucklucks, and do whatever the hell needs to be done for the week I can be there.

I will post again when it's closer to when I'm going. So if any of you can make it, cool! How great would it be for us to get together, swap stories, AND help a bunch of deserving people!

And I'm so angry that months and months after Katrina and Rita, the hard-hit Gulf region is still such a mess. I think citizen volunteers are a great thing -- I think a log of people WANT to help, and it feeds the soul to do so. But where in the world is the government? Shouldn't THEY be helping too? GWB going down there for a few photo ops just doesn't do it.
