America: Freedom to Fascism
There's a movie coming out on July 28th (in NYC, Kansas City, Austin TX, Chicago, and Tampa) that I believe you would all like. Here's a bit about it:

Determined to find the law that requires Americans to pay income tax, Aaron Russo (THE ROSE, TRADING PLACES) sets out on a journey. Neither left- nor right-wing, this startling examination exposes the systematic erosion of civil liberties in America. Through interviews with US Congressmen, a former IRS Commissioner, former IRS and FBI agents, tax attorneys and authors, Russo connects the dots between money creation, federal income tax, voter fraud, the national identity card (becoming law in May 2008) and the implementation of radio frequency identification (RFID) technology to track citizens. A striking case about the evolving police state in America.

Check it out, seriously, I've seen it and it really is one of the scariest movies I've ever seen. What has happened to this country?

1. What happened to the country is that citizens became mindless consumers.
We started caring more about things than people. Being affluent now means having money & things. There was a short period of time, right before WWII, where people were well off enough to start pushing their unions to negotiate for a 30 hour work week. The people wanted to spend more time with their families & enjoying leisure time. Then the war came, women went to work in the factories; it became more common place for women to work. After the war, television took off & along with it Madison Avenue. The mythical Jones family was created & after that, it's been downhill as Americans spend more & more hours at the office trying to keep up with a family that doesn't exist. :eyes:

There's an anecdote about a man who is kicked back in his little boat fishing, enjoying the afternoon. A rich man in a bigger boat cruises by & asks what he is doing. The man responds, "I'm fishing." The rich man tells him he should buy a bigger boat; then he could catch even more fish & buy an even bigger boat & then hire people to fish for him & then he could take the afternoon off & go fishing. The other man responds, "What do you think I'm doing now?" -lol

Sorry, I got a little off topic there! ;)

Thanks for the movie review. I will definitely look for it.

2. Fishing
Haha, I really like the fishing story. In fact, I love it. I hate working. I'm at work right now. Ah, I should go home....

5. SEE THIS MOVIE NOW!
This is the scariest movie I have seen for a long time.

You can watch it for FREE on Google Movies: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4312730277175242198&q=

Also up on YouTube in 3 parts, search for "Freedom to Fascism".

You can download it from the site http://www.freedomtofascism.com for a few dollars or buy the DVD to show it to your offline friends.

This movie is scary. Trolling freepers, please watch this movie and give it critical analysis. Many credible people are interviewed in this film, many of them Republicans.

This is about our liberty dying for good. Whichever side of politics you are on, this is absolutely terrifying. It is also not wingnuttery. Like I said, there are a lot of people in this film that are real, credible people.
