Current is a non-partisan network.
The leadership does not manipulate the greelight process, at least I have not seen any evidence for that and I've been a user of their site for about a year.
A recently victorious pod was made by a conservative guy. About a year ago he first appeared with a video about the "N" word. It was done perfectly but he didn't have releases so he had no chance to get on air.
Now he came back with another excellent piece, it quickly became number one and it was picked for TV.

and they became profitable within a year without breaking the law, unlike YouTube.
More importantly, on Current you have to pay a lot of attention to quality. The standard is higher because most of the users demand it and they do not vote for crap.
You can hardly see people on YouTube talking about camera moves or editing or lighting or what kind of mike to use.
But Gore wanted the average Joe to create quality videos about anything they care about not just pick up a camcorder and shoot themselves dancing in their living room.
There is no question that user-created content will improve in the years ahead, and you will see better videos on every video site, including on YouTube. But it was Current which was the first pioneer of this new movement and they deserve all the credit for creating something really new on TV -- no small feat if you think about the US media landscape.
They recently teamed up with Yahoo, where now you can upload your stuff even if you don't want to bother with the releases and licences and don't want to upload your video exclusively for Current.
http://video.yahoo.com/currenttvBTW Rupert Murdoch and Gore just made a deal to bring Current to the UK. Talk about strange bedfellows. To his credit Murdoch seems to take global warming seriously and he also acknowledges Current's unique approach.
http://msnbc.msn.com/id/15155208/So far Gore has proven to be an excellent businessman, unlike a certain guy in the White House. Current and Generations are not Arbusto and Harken, for sure.
And if Google indeed buys YouTube -- and they wouldn't do it if they didn't think it could become profitable -- some of that profit will make Gore even richer (he works for Google, among other things). And I say if there's anyone out there who deserves every dollar he can make on the Internet that's Gore.
