Watch "The Ground Truth"
Dear MoveOn member,
Next Thursday, tens of thousands of us—from Nashville to Boise—are going to get together in homes across the nation to watch the powerful documentary, The Ground Truth and then write letters pushing Congress to stop the escalation. We'll hand-deliver those letters directly to our representatives the following week.
This is a movie you should see. It's told through the eyes of veterans of this war and it reminds us that this is not just about troop numbers and dollar amounts. This is about real lives that will never be the same even if they make it home.

We'll be coming together the very same day the House votes on a resolution opposing escalation—-it'll be a critical moment for us to push them to take the next step.
As Demond Mullins, an Iraq War veteran featured in the film said, "The Iraq War has ruined thousands of lives, American and Iraqi. An escalation of the conflict is an egregious advance in the same dark direction."
We have to take action to stop the escalation. Handwritten letters, like the ones we'll write after the movie, are one of the most effective ways to get our representatives' attention. And if enough of us show up and write letters, we can really make a big impact on Congress.
The Ground Truth is told through the eyes of veterans of this war. It's a harrowing look at what some soldiers go through when they return and try to put their lives back together. The Chicago Tribune called it "powerful and intensely compelling."
The veterans in this documentary have seen the painful reality of war and this movie gives them an important platform to speak. We owe it to them to listen and we owe it to them to do our part to help end this war.
Can you join us next Thursday to watch The Ground Truth and stop the escalation?
