Stop Ann Coulter's Politics of Hate
Send a clear message to Lee Salem, Executive Vice President and Editor, Universal Press that providing a platform for Ann Coulter to spout anti-gay rhethoric by syndicating her column must stop now.

Coulter’s use of the demeaning and harmful word "faggot" is so beyond the pale that anyone who uses it should not be given a platform as a respected voice in the political discourse of our country.

"Faggot" is a loaded word. It is a weapon used to demean and wound our community.

The news media has a responsibility to not simply become an avenue that allows Ann Coulter the opportunity to broadcast her vile slurs.

By now, most of the world is aware of Ann Coulter’s remarks last Friday that disgustingly referred to Senator John Edwards as a “faggot.”

After her comments, HRC immediately condemned her remarks by issuing this release, and HRC Coming Out Spokesman and former NBA star John Ameachi prepared a video response posted on YouTube.

Last night, Coulter defended herself on Fox News by saying “faggot" isn’t offensive to gays”. Wrong! We all know the truth is that “faggot” is a loaded word. It is a weapon used to demean and wound our community. And perhaps she should explain to the tens of thousands of gay kids, whose personal safety is too often threatened, that when they are called “faggot” in school hallways and playgrounds, it isn’t anti-gay.

Would so many of our elected officials and members of the news media be so indifferent if Coulter had gone on a racist, anti-Semitic tirade? Of course not. The fact is that everyone should be treating Ann Coulter as the equivalent of David Duke. Because she is.

Ann Coulter is clueless and callous. She has built a career out of demonizing other people and dividing our country. And, along the way, she has made a ton of money.

There is no reason to expect her to reform her ways unless we stand up and hold her and all those that allow her a venue to spew her ignorance accountable.

Make no mistake, the real issue at hand is that anti-gay slanders should be so beyond the pale that anyone who uses them should immediately be removed from any public discourse.

It’s time to remove Ann Coulter from public discourse!

Here’s how we’ll do it. The media must stop giving Coulter the opportunity to broadcast her vile slurs. Any time Coulter’s column runs in a newspaper, these news outlets are giving her credibility as a respected voice in the national dialogue. They are putting the stamp of approval of their newspaper on Coulter’s level of discourse. Well, will they continue? Or will they finally say: Enough!

This is not a question of censorship. There are plenty of other people on the right who share Coulter’s values and views but understand the value of civility and respect.

Already today, three major American corporations have spoken out and pulled their advertising from Coulter’s website. We must insist that the news media follow the lead of Verizon, Sallie Mae and Georgia-based NetBank and place Ann Coulter in the “off-limits” category along with the “David Dukes” of the world — where she belongs.

Take action today! Stand up and send a clear message to Ann Coulter, and those who would provide her with a platform, that calling someone a “faggot” is wrong, and we won’t sit by without taking action.

Make sure that Ann Coulter’s platform for bigotry and hate is dismantled.

3. Maybe if we all just ignore her, she'll go away?
:sarcasm:

This is a good suggestion. Her message must be countered. It is not our fault that she gets airtime on major news media outlets and speaking engagements at puke gatherings.

4. 'Have registered strong objection to her sponsors already and feel that
her days in the limelight are numbered now.

She's a one-trick pony. She can spew nasty remarks about Max Cleland and John Edwards and other Democrats, but her public appeal is based on that nastiness and limited to those who want their anger stroked.

What she says reiterates GOP slurs of all kinds, including sexual, and reinforce the unacceptable bigotry in society. But the burn-out quotient on that kind of career can be pretty high. I think Coulter has reached her zenith and it's all down hill from here.

She's Dracula's bile on a styrofoam raft going over a very tall dam. That's a badly mixed metaphor but with Coulter, somehow, it kinda works.

5. And has Ann Coulter EVER apologized for ANYTHING she's said??
As I think about it, the answer is NO. She simply comes up with yet another snarky retort.

6. At this point, the more Coulter opens her butt-ugly crack mouth. . .
the more people will be turned off by the Republican Party and defect to the Democrats.

She's showing signs of drinking/partying out/sleeping out too much.

Odds are, she's gonna meet a sad, tawdry end.

So I just don't know whether to tell her to shut up or egg her on.
