Can you help Joan?
I won't host this forever, but you can still see her work at

http://www.unprecedented.org

It was an important message and she did everything properly. Now, she's once again invested her retirement savings into another documentary, fulfilling her promise to capture the plight of veterans and their opposition to the war in Iraq.

I'll once again do whatever I can to help and DU is a logical place to start. These are her words:

Hello to all friends, acquaintances, colleagues,

You saw the documentary I co-directed--"Unprecedented: The 2000 Presidential Election"-- which revealed how the election was stolen so that George W Bush could capture the White House. Now comes a new documentary I am co-directing/producing with award-winning editor Bill Haugse in Los Angeles, which hopefully will be out before the next Presidential election pending our ability to raise funds.

This documentary will reveal the growing resistance to the war in Iraq within the U.S. military. Some soldiers have already been to Iraq and refuse to deploy again and some have refused to deploy for the first time. They are facing courtmartials and prison. They have publicly stated that the war in Iraq is illegal and immoral. Some have filed for conscientious objector status and many others have gone AWOL, especially after G.W. Bush announced the upcoming 'surge in troops'. Over 1,000 active duty soldiers in Iraq, Afghanistan and other countries have signed on-line an Appeal to Congress to stop the war and bring the troops home. Furthermore, thousands of high school students in the U.S. have refused to be recruited into the Army despite harrassment from military recruiters.

Our documentary will also reveal how the war in Vietnan was stopped--there was a mass movement in the streets, Congress cut off funding for the war, and resistance by GI's within the military both at home and in Vietnam was very significant and played a major role in ending the war.

Woven into the stories of GI resisters to the war in Iraq will be:

**How the U.S. occupation is the cause of the destruction of schools, hospitals, water supply, electricity, sewage systems, massive unemployment, increased poverty, malnutrition, development of typhoid, cholera
**How 2 million Iraqis have had to flee their country or have become displaced refugees within different parts of Iraq.
**How the U.S. has begun construction of huge PERMANENT military bases throughout the country, demonstrating that they have no intention of ever leaving the country
**How Iraq's oil, for the first time, will become privatized so that Exxon/Mobil, Chevron, BP etc.will own a large share of the profits
**How GI's back from Iraq, who are mainly from rural and small town America, are receiving sub-optimal care in VA facilities due to underfunding and understaffing, resulting in extreme anguish, depression, suicides, etc.

THIS IMPORTANT DOCUMENTARY CAN'T BE COMPLETED WITHOUT YOUR HELP.
SO......IF YOU CAN MAKE A TAX-DEDUCTIBLE CONTRIBUTION TO OUR DOCUMENTARY--WHATEVER YOU CAN AFFORD--PLEASE ADDRESS YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO: PUBLIC INTEREST PICTURES and just write on the bottom of the check "for Iraq project"

You can mail the contribution to:
