This is a really important day for many food banks who help out the working poor. They really count on people to help stock their pantrys.

Please set some non perishable food out by your mailbox on May 12.

1. got the reminder card in yesterday's mail

just wish they wouldn't have the "Family Circus" cartoon on it :puke:

2. Bill (Keane?) from Family Circle

has been a longtime supporter of our food drive and some feel that the exposure to a well known cartoon helps to publicize it.

I do know that in CO, where I am, the supplies for the food banks from the holiday season are dwindling, so this is a very important mission for them. There really are many families and children who count on this food to tide themselves over.

And I have my bag of groceries ready for Saturday's pickup. Our regular letter carrier LOVES the food drive even though it means a lot of extra work for him -- he said it's great to see how little amounts at each mailbox turn into a big pile by the end of his route.
