What's next? An alternate system
I just now sent this to Gold Star Families for Peace (hoping to reach Cindy Sheehan). I thought I'd post it here as well, in case anyone else is interested in contemplating "what's next".

----------------
I listened carefully to Cindy on Democracy Now! and want to offer my proposal for a new approach. I've come to the same conclusion as Cindy several years ago, and started thinking about ways to peacefully but effectively undermine the corrupt corporate system.

I realized that we are never going to win by taking on power directly. Instead, we need to use the potential of the Internet to create a true Alternate System...one that exists within, but outside of the traditional government, culture, and economies we physically exist in. It is a system that makes us 1) far less dependent on government-issue money, 2) interconnected, 3) self-reliant, 4) able to avoid paying taxes. It is a world-wide virtual economy, country, and society that is founded on the rules that people like us believe in...providing people with an real option to opt out! When we offer people a better lifestyle that is also moral, we win. The most powerful aspect is that it provides for people (allows people to provide for themselves)!

Please read my more in-depth proposal: http://anotherdreamer.typepad.com/abscondo/2007/01/the_infobeing_m.html

I look forward to hearing what you think (if and when the time comes that you're ready for next steps). Until then, take care of yourself, get well, and stay well. ;-)

Thank you for everything you have done (Cindy, and all of you).

1. I can see it already emerging to an extent
... but without the cohesion and of course without the incentives or rewards.

I guess Argentines did something similar when money kinda... vanished. Harder online, but the same principle.

How would it work for those physically remote from the nearest fellow participant? I can see the potential for a "points" trade in information (or music, or good jokes), but so far it's only a potential.

I suspect it'll evolve from what's happening already. But it could do with prodding along.

2. Good question
For those isolated from other members physically...there's still lots they could do to earn points and ask for favors (or sell the points).

Don't get me wrong, it would be a nightmare project that would require lots of money and support for it to actually work.

Thanks for reading it anyway. ;-)
