I think we have something here that will appeal to both sides of the aisle. Here is what I just submitted to my local paper.

Amazingly, the U.S. Senate voted 72-25 to condemn MoveOn.org’s ad referring to Gen. Petraeus as “Gen. Betray Us.” Surely they have more pressing business at hand. They must be unaware his own troops coined this epithet at least three years ago and his testimony has generated legitimate criticism and incredulous ridicule.
Whining about MoveOn.org criticizing a Bush administration mouthpiece is beyond absurd given grotesque slurs such as Purple Heart band-aids at the 2004 GOP Convention and countless Republicans boldly equating Democrats with terrorists. Tomorrow I’d like to see the Senate condemn Hannity, Limbaugh and Coulter for the foul things they have uttered and printed about me and my fellow progressives. I’ll not hold my breath.
We elected a Democratic majority to Congress in 2006 assuming they would repair the damage wrought by the fiscally irresponsible and personally intrusive Republicans. Given their impotence as an opposition party, and now a majority party, is it any wonder Congress is polling a 11% approval?
What message do our elected representatives need to understand their constituents value peace, a strong economy, superior education, fiscal responsibility and security based on sound public policy rather than suppression of civil liberties?

Whether talking about the opposition to the restoration of habeas corpus, the ridiculous condemnation of MoveOn, the lack of majority control over floor votes, should we put pressure on our party through the newspapers? I realize many think it no longer the effort, but if it gets Joe Newspaper reader thinking. *shrug*
I don't know. I've got to do something right now or I'll scream.
Shall we talk values?
