North Alabama residents protest Klan's presence at Saturday's rally in Athens
... The Ku Klux Klan rally on Saturday, Sept. 15, in downtown Athens, was met with heavy local resistance, said Athens Mayor Dan Williams ...

Just before it was ended, a number of people in front of the crowd were yelling "go away KKK" to answer the cries of "white power."

"The majority of the crowd (of an estimated 400 people) comprised a protest group (from local Presbyterian, Methodist and Episcopal churches.) ...

"This just makes Limestone County look bad," said a Limestone County Sheriff's Deputy. "These people aren't even from here-they're from Indiana, Russellville, other places." ...

2. And the Klan rears its ugly head again.
Every time I think they've finally been disbanded or otherwise finished, back they come. This administration is taking the country backwards, not towards the future.

4. Athens is between Florence and Huntsville, bordering the Tennessee River to the north and Tennessee
to the south. I live about 20 miles from there and didn't even hear about it! It must not have been covered very well, or else the Huntsville TV channels just chose to put a 30 second segment on for their "rally!"

When I was a teenager the Klan went out giving out fliers to the people as they left work, school and stores in the late afternoon. They were shocked that they were assaulted and spat upon in my lily white hometown. Why? Because the majority of the people there are Roman Catholic! I guess they aren't up on their Mariology in the clan, since the name of the town is Loretto, Tennessee, as in Our Lady of Loreto!

They try to have a rally every year in Pulaski, TN, just north of Athens where Forrest founded Klan 1.0 and the people shut down their shops until they leave. Then they get back into their busses with IN and IL and MS tags and go back sulking!

The Tennessee Valley doesn't like Klantypes very much, you might say. . .after all, FDR is still the patron saint!
