Speaking up for peace: Memorial students pass on class to protest war

A group of about two dozen well-behaved high school anti-war protesters drew far more cheers than jeers from passing motorists as they held up signs at a busy west side intersection Friday afternoon ... They whooped and hollered and lofted signs with anti-war and impeachment slogans as traffic whizzed by. Many of the drivers honked in apparent support and gave thumbs-up signs to the students ... "These are the kids who are going to grow up and pay for this war. It'll be on their tax bill," he said. "They have the sense that there's so little they can do." ... Rodriquez said she believed the majority of the students had gotten permission slips signed by their parents to leave school ... Capital Times (Madison WI)
