The Montana Department of Livestock
and the National Park Service are killing the thousands of buffalo that
roam in Yellowstone National Park, claiming that the buffalo could
transmit brucellosis to cattle in the area—even though there is not a single
documented case of cattle contracting the disease from buffalo.

The buffalo are only following their normal migration searching for food at lower elevations with less snow. There will also be babies also, who will wind up being ran over during the stampede of their own herd being chased. This is the worst buffalo massacre since the 19th century, courtesy of the Bush administration.


You can contact NDRC to sign a petition to halt the killing. I received on in the mail today. I would think also that putting some pressure on the Wyoming and Montana politicians would help.

did really say what citizens can do to help.

I was in Yellowstone 2 years ago for the first time. Seeing buffalo roam free is something everyone should see, it is magnificent!

I often think about how our country looked years ago when there were so many herds of buffalo. I got this letter in the mail today from NDRC to sign the petition. I think that also contacting the politicians of MT and WY would be good. Thanks for your help.

I'm an amateur nature photographer, and I go to Yellowstone at least once a year. It's one of the most amazing and beautiful places in the world, and a big part of that is the amazing display of animals, including buffalo, which can be seen everywhere. The big ones are 6 feet tall at the shoulder. It makes you feel very small when one walks by and it towers over the car you're sitting in.

They're also out to kill the wolves again (or still). When facts don't back them, they seem willing to make up reasons to kill animals that some perceive as dangerous in some way. I suspect most of them actually just want to kill a trophy. A few years back, heavy snows drove the buffalo out of the park, and hunters stood on the park borders and slaughtered hundreds of buffalo as they left. Like shooting fish in a barrel. Real sportsmen. As far as I'm concerned, that kind of hunting is only a sport if the animals can shoot back.

6. The brother-in-law of my great, great aunt - who I never knew - saved

the last 13 buffalo in the world. Was in Manitoba at the end of the last century. He watched hunters come in with thousands of buffalo pelts at a time and saw the writing on the wall. He started to save orphaned buffalo and from that group of 13 come all the buffalo that exist today.
