What an exciting time! The Democratic and Republican National Conventions are approaching and the Denver team has been working for almost a year to create a presence at the Democratic National Convention.
I believe it is no coincidence that we have a last-minute opportunity to have a tabling presence at the convention because whatever you focus on is what you create!
We'd also love to have a presence at the Republican National Convention and this last-minute opportunity has encouraged us to continue to ask for what we want--if you know of an opportunity to share about the Department of Peace and Nonviolence at the RNC, please contact me in the D.C. office.
While we know that all of us cannot be at both of these conventions, there is a way we can all contribute. You guessed it! We are raising money to make all of this possible.
We are holding a reception across from the Democratic Convention Center for all the Members of the House and Senate who will be in Denver. We have volunteers contacting each office to extend personal invitations and next week, we'll ask for your help with that in our monthly E-newsletter.
The reception and materials will cost us about $3,500 and we have at least one staff attending. Any tabling we might do, whether at the DNC or the RNC, will be extra.
Creating a Department of Peace is the most important thing we can do in our lifetime. Now is the time to use your money to give peace a voice.
If you have never given before and are inspired by your/our passion, determination, spunk and luck (hard work meets opportunity!), then give today by making a one-time donation or become a monthly donor.
If you already give monthly, can you increase your giving by $5 or $10 per month? Or donate $20 to sponsor a Member of Congress in attending the reception to find out more about the Department of Peace and Nonviolence.
We can all fund the future and vision of peace and this is an exciting opportunity to continue to make peace a part of the election-year dialogue. Thank you all for the packets you have distributed (very creatively in many instances!) to many who are running for office. Let's continue to get the Department of Peace and Nonviolence in the hands of everyone...and Give Today!
