How can peacemakers not get caught up in GOP racism or mobs

When our local right-wingers make racist remarks on our newspaper's comment section and/or appear at our US Rep to harrass him, yell at him, rattle him I have a hard time not responding in kind.
I think of the great 'clowns versus Nazis' response and the non-violent responses of all those amazing people during the civil rights battles and I want to respond that way. I know many civil rights marchers got trainings from SNCC, Fellowship of Reconciliation and I think that's what I need so I don't respond from this gut-churning place. But it's just not available here.

How can we peacefully, maturely, effectively, successfully respond?

I am hoping that together, we can generate some ideas, concepts that are all good.

I intend to put myself in a place where I can defend my new Dem Rep.

I'd like to know myself. I think we don't want to lower ourselves to their level. My blood is boiling as I think of all those people who are denied health care. People who desperately need health care are going without. I just don't have it in me to resort to the kind violence that seems to be a part of this lunatic mob.
