Fundraiser for sheriff post draws protest from immigration supporters

Protesters were outside a fundraiser Saturday for an Orange County sheriff’s candidate who had enlisted the support of a controversial Arizona sheriff who backed that state’s new anti-illegal-immigration law.

Former Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Bill Hunt and Anaheim Deputy Police Chief Craig Hunter are running against Sheriff Sandra Hutchens in the June 8 election.

At a fundraiser for Hunt in Costa Mesa that featured Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Ariz., about 30 people protested outside, it was reported ...
