Vice President for Outreach and Operations (Fall 2010)
Public Campaign is a national organization that works for systemic change in the arena of money and politics, with a specific focus on winning a small donor-driven alternative to corporate-funded campaigns. With the recent Supreme Court ruling in the Citizens United case, the power of big money in politics is drastically increased, making Public Campaign’s multi-faceted drive to create a “Fair Elections” system one of the most important and timely issue campaigns in the country.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Vice President for Outreach and Operations is one of the key senior leaders in the organization. S/he works closely with the President/CEO and the National Campaigns director in the management of the day-to-day operations of the organization, manages national outreach for the organization, plays a lead role in planning and strategy development for the organization, and works alongside the President as a leader of the senior management team. S/he reports directly to the President/CEO.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Outreach to national organizations and national and field partners Public Relations, with stakeholders, allies, the public and the press Lead Role in Internal Policy Development/Evaluation/Long Term Planning Management and Administration of National Office of Public Campaign Financial Management Oversight Personnel Management DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple systems, adapt when change is called for, managing, prioritize and delegate assignments, and work under pressure. Demonstrated relevant experience with organizational models that include field offices or field operations Relevant experience in field operations, coalition building and outreach Demonstrated experience in organizational and financial management At least 5 to 7 years organizational management experience Excellent interpersonal skills Excellent writing skills Excellent verbal communications skills Demonstrated success serving as spokesperson for an organization or cause Personal and/or professional life experiences that demonstrate an understanding and commitment to work for the mission of Public Campaign Demonstrated track record in and commitment to working with and respecting people of different races, ethnic backgrounds, ideologies, sexual orientation, and political parties Generous salary and benefits; salary commensurate with experience
