1. The problem is that Citizens United doesn't say that they are
The Citizens United ruling is not based on the idea that corporations are people. It is based on the fact that the 1st amendment protects "the press." And the press has been business and corporations from before the days of independence. The question for anyone who wants to repeal part of the 1st amendment is just how what language they want to use for that purpose.

A new amendment that says "corporations aren't people" would not change the Citizens United ruling.

A new amendment that says the 1st amendment no longer protects the press would indeed change that. But I hope that's not what you want.

So... what exactly is being proposed?

2. Signing online petitions MAYscare Groupon, but doesn't move Congress.
Signing an online petition to get an amendment to the federal Constitution is like staying home alone to masturbate in order to find spouse. It may make you feel better for a short while, but only takes your time and energy away from your real goal.

I believe we will never see another amendment to the federal Constitution as to which there is any significant degree of disagreement.

However, if you believe that an amendment to overrule Citizens United v. FEC is a possibility, supporting Feingold's PAC is probably the way to go. http://www.progressivesunited.org/ Or organize some massive demonstrations, or run for office, or something.

But realize it will take real time and work to get an amendment to the federal Constitution to overrule a case like Citizens United v. FEC.

3. Petition Corporations are not people
I agree with your concern, but this is a big..proposal. Reality. The corporations buy the leaders, who would have to pass that bill. The problem is that this stuff has been going on for a long time, and I think joining the October event on Freedom Hill in Washington DC 2011, American Autumn, would/may make a difference.

Good luck!
