Anti-gay group's poll on marriage/civil union
Please read the following message that's going around; be sure to forward this to anyone you know that may be interested.
The site has been tagged with a "BARF BAG" alert.

"The American Family Association, an anti-gay organization, is doing a poll on gay marriage. They are going to present the results to Congress, hoping to gain support for the federal constitutional amendment to define "marriage" as solely a heterosexual union. However, anyone can take their poll, so please pass this URL far and wide. (I doubt they expect anyone but their own, anti-gay members to answer it.)"

If you are on AOL, click here: Click here: MarriagePoll.com

Otherwise, click here: http://www.afa.net/petitions/marriagepoll.asp

Please send this to other LGBT and straight-ally people.

2. How about this approach?
After I voted in the gay marriage poll (looks like we're winning in a landslide) I perused the AFA's sickening site. I see they have an e-mail sending function, like many activist sites do. I decided to participate - but altered the letter to convey a message in support of what they were opposing.

I like the idea of using their own website against them. I think this is something we could get a lot of mileage out of on a variety of issues. This is what I wrote to 7-11 Corporation regarding that company's decision to sell Playboy again:

Dear President Keyes,

I am HIGHLY ENCOURAGED that 7-Eleven has chosen to sell magazines like "Playboy" again.

Since 1986, you have cowardly bowed to the likes of the American Family Association and other closed-society discriminatory religious organizations and removed adult reading material from your stores. I am glad that you have finally realized the importance of freedom of speech and the rule of law, not vigilante mob rule.

I'm telling my friends about your 7-Eleven stores and will reestablish shopping patterns there.

For the sake of our nation, its constitution, and its people, I thank you for your recent decision upholding freedom of speech and condemning religious persecution.

ORIGINAL TEXT THAT I MODIFIED AS ABOVE

Dear President Keyes,

I am surprised that 7-Eleven has chosen to sell pornographic magazines like "Playboy" again.

Since 1986, we have trusted your company to maintain a high standard of responsibility for the convenience store industry. That trust is on the verge of being broken.

I respectfully submit that I do not buy pornography. I do not shop at stores that sell it, rent it, or promote it! And...I'm telling my friends about your 7-Eleven stores.

For the sake of our families, reverse the decision to sell "Playboy" or other pornographic magazines.

3. Strong Support Is Found for Ban on Gay Marriage
This is on Drudge...

"For decades, a majority of Americans have not approved of homosexual relations. That had begun to change, until the Supreme Court ruling in June and the Massachusetts ruling in November. A New York Times/CBS News poll conducted in July found that 54 percent of respondents said homosexual relations should be legal. Only 41 percent of the respondents in the latest poll said they should be legal."

I hope I'm not going to wake up one day and find that its illegal to be with my partner...period.
