Posting this one for my gal Sus since she can't start new threads yet. Seems it's an issue about voting in the state of Maryland and I'm sure all you registered voters in that state may be interested in attending. Sus told me about how the state of MD hired hackers to try to break into their new voting system and the hackers found many ways in order to do so and with great ease. Post questions you might have about this if you are interested!!!
MD Voters!!! There's a hearing Tuesday Feb. 10 about
HB 53 and the sad state of voting in Maryland.
(sorry to post this here, but i'm too new to start threads apparently.)
People need to sign in by 11:00 to testify -- if you want to testify we can sign you onto the list. People will have three minutes as an individual and five minutes if they represent a group. We need people from all over the state (geographic diversity is important), with a variety of backgrounds and ethnic/racial make-up and a variety of politcal party and other affiliations.
Please let truevotemd.org know if you are interested or able to do this.
THIS IS A CRITICAL MOMENT IN THE LEGISLATIVE PROCESS. WE NEED YOUR
SUPPORT NOW!
If you cannot be there in person, please submit written testimony. This can be in the form of a formal letter. Please include where you are from as well as your reasons.
FYI -- You can see our report responding to the Maryland Legislative
Services Report (the topic of last week's briefing) that we are
providing to legislators and others today at
http://truevotemd.org/2004-02-04_cant_trust_paperless.pdf .
Finally, we have put a new action alert on our website -- this one is directed to the Ways and Means Committee members. Please send a letter yourself -- and tell five other people to do so as well. This is the time to flood their email with support for HB 53. See:
