Verified Voting Volunteers Needed for 2 actions for the March 2nd Primaries.
1.
We are calling for volunteers to take Verified Voting flyers out with them to the polling office and to stay a while and talk to the voters who turn out, informing them about concerns about electronic voting.
Flyers found here:
http://www.verifiedvoting.org/article.asp?id=138When you are passing out flyers please wait until after people have voted and then give them some information about how they can help out, by calling their congressmen in support of HR2239 and S1980.
2. If your state does not have a primary you are encouraged on March 2nd to contact Senator Boxer and Senator Clinton (even by non-constituents). You should encourage them to co-sponsor Senator Graham's bill S1980, which will mandate a paper record for electronic voting.
Whoever wants to make a powerful statement for yourself and for your country, that you want more accountability in our electoral system, this is a chance to do so.
Please contact Senator Boxer and Clinton together on March 2nd, marking 8 months until the presidential election.

Redwood City, CA - Electronic voting watchdog organization VerifiedVoting.org today endorsed S. 1980, an electronic voting bill introduced in December 2003 by Senator Graham (FL). The organization released a report comparing in detail three electronic voting bills under consideration in the U.S. Senate.
"We support Senator Graham's bill because it not only incorporates the critical requirement for paper audit trails but also mirrors Rep. Holt's bill in the House," said VerifiedVoting.org Legislative Analyst Bob Kibrick. "Passage of the Holt and Graham bills is the fastest route to restoring trust in the elections upon which our democracy depends."
While the other two Senate bills also make provisions for audit trails, only the Graham bill does so in a manner that can be implemented in time for the November 2004 election.

Note: Both Boxer and Clinton introduced similar bills (S2045-B - S1986-C) into congress as S1980 and are currently trying to merge all three into one, but this could take too long and stall the passage of the bill for 2004.
