Town Hall Meeting in NYC about GOP Convention

Wanted to pass this on to any NYC DUers. My hero, Sam Waterston, is going to speak. He was at Ground Zero in the days immediately following the tragedy, and was at a meeting of police/firefighters widows and orphans to comfort the families. Too bad Shrub couldn't follow his example.

If anyone goes, could you pm me about what Sam says? I like to report back to his fans, many of whom are politically active. Thanks!

At this Town Hall Forum, notable New Yorkers will reflect on the use of symbolism in political life, appropriate responses to the third anniversary of 9/11, and the broader question of what communities can do when political leaders appropriate emotionally-charged icons for their own purposes.

I'll be there - I also love Sam & Janeane. Sat next to Sam in a restaurant in the Village once - he is so much more handsome in person.

That's not why I'm going though. I am majorly PISSED that the GOP is even THINKING of having the puke convention here!!

2. You are so lucky!

Unless Sam decides to visit AR, I'll never meet him. But I do admire his ideals (his fans raised $4000 last year in his honor for his favorite charity, Refugees International-yep, Sam's fans are activists!). Let me know what happens at the meeting if you are lucky enough to go!
