Wanted to pass this on to any NYC DUers. My hero, Sam Waterston, is going to speak. He was at Ground Zero in the days immediately following the tragedy, and was at a meeting of police/firefighters widows and orphans to comfort the families. Too bad Shrub couldn't follow his example.
If anyone goes, could you pm me about what Sam says? I like to report back to his fans, many of whom are politically active. Thanks!Link to this and other great programs:

A Town Hall Forum on the Symbolism and Strategy of Bringing the GOP Convention to NYCSam Waterston, Janeane Garofalo and others
The news media have reported that the President personally approved New York as the site of this year's Republican Convention. At this Town Hall Forum, notable New Yorkers will reflect on the use of symbolism in political life, appropriate responses to the third anniversary of 9/11, and the broader question of what communities can do when political leaders appropriate emotionally-charged icons for their own purposes.
