What car better symbolizes warped national priorities than the Hummer? Hummers get an environmentally disastrous nine (yes, nine) miles to the gallon. Already wealthy businesspeople get obscene tax breaks to buy them for next to nothing. They perpetuate our dependence on oil and oil wars as they normalize militarism in our neighborhoods. They have a horrendously high collision and fatality rate, so they don't make any of us one bit safer. Let's face it: Hummers are a bummer - for our environment, our children, and our world.

Join CODEPINK and Global Exchange as we celebrate Earth Day by taking action in the National Day of Action Against Hummers.

Organize an April 22 rally at a Hummer or General Motors dealership in your city. If there isn't a Hummer or GM dealer in your city, protest at another well-trafficked downtown location.

Never organized a protest? Not to worry. They don't have to be big - even a few people holding up signs in front of a local Hummer dealership would be great! We'd be more than happy to help. 4. Yeah, I love Hummers, too

I love the way their owners vent their insecurities about their masculinity by pulling their big ass ugly tanks right up to your bumper. Watch out if you happen to be sporting any kind of bumper sticker that identifies you as a "librul" and they start revving up the engine.

I love the way these big ass road hogs take up two parking spaces wherever they go, including handicapped spaces. Who will dare to complain? Besides, they don't want to some pansy Prius to come along and scratch the paint.

I love to see Hummers sporting American flags and other cliche, patriotic ephemera pull up to the gas tank for a big gulp at the gas trough. Price to be paid in American blood.

I love Hummers for the needed ego boost they give to their owners. The next time you see a Hummer owner tossing their sacks of garbage out the window, just remember-- they OWN the road and its up to the rest of us scum to pick up after them.

Lastly, I really get a kick from seeing pedestrians and cyclists scared shitless when they scamper out of they way of a tank so big the drivers can't see what's in front of them.

Hell yeah, I love Hummers.

A couple of anti environment Republicans were out in the forest off roading in an expensive Hummer. After mowing down a couple of young pine trees they were startled by large deer that jumped out in front of them.

The driver panicked and slammed into a large ponderosa pine. All passengers tumbled out of the vehicle to inspect their wounds. The driver started to wail and yell "look what that dam stupid beast did to my Hummer!"

One of the passengers ran up to him and exclaimed "never mind the vehicle Dick, your arm got clean tore off in the accident.

"What," screeched the driver, "I've lost my Rolex now too!"

11. Hummer billboards

..so.. a few months ago, all around the SF Bay area, someone created a pixel perfect font "B" to place over the "H" on the repellant hummer billboards that appeared overnight. So, for the period of about a week, they read, in all their glory "bummer: redefine need".

i'm currently duplicating this effort for the next hummer wave.. perhaps with the letter "D" this time.
