Tentative list of Protestors at Boston DNC is out
Ok, I understand that the usual 25 folks that are anti-Israel/Sharon, and that the 25 that are pro –Sharon will be out there and most likely both will be without a permit for a protest – heck the last month had these folks protesting at the Common and at Copley, so I doubt they will miss doing their thing in July.
And of course the anti-abortion crowd has the Christian Defense Coalition’s Boston Branch of "Operation Rescue" led by William Cotter who has tentatively been approved for permits for marches and protests that will center around Kerry’s Home in Louisburg Square with a "prayer vigil", and at Kerry’s usual go to church on Sunday Paulist Center Catholic Church on Park Street – the good news being that they expect no more than 100 protestors. Specific dates during the 7/26 to 7/29 convention have not yet been requested for any of the above anti-abortion protests.
Likewise our Friends at ANSWER are approved to demonstrate but do not appear to have locked down a date or location. – but do have slogans – “progressives against both the Republican and Democratic Parties alike” – “Democratic Party is part of the war machine” – and they note on their website that they will be protesting in N Y City later this summer at the GOP convention (wonder how many progressive votes they will take away from the GOP?).
But two groups went and got permits to protest everyday. The Black Tea Society – BTS- described as an anti-government, anarchist group (do I read that as a GOP front?) with the slogan “Anybody but Bush isn’t much of a choice either.” And the second was a group representing the 100 million Falun Dafa in China that are oppressed by the Chinese. The Boston Falun Dafa are led by Boston instructor Haiying He. He said (I love the start of this sentence) that Falun Dafa only practice an ancient form of Chinese mediation combining Taoism and Buddhism, and are not really a threat to the Chinese Communist Party.
Well, that’s the list as of today. Should be a fun convention!
