8. What should they do instead?
Edited on Tue Jun-15-04 03:22 PM by Bambistew
So if they don't take some of the bison out of the heard what do you propose they do instead?

The carrying capacity of the park is approximately 2000 bison. Right now there are approximately 4000 bison in the park. What do you propose they feed them? Should they just starve to death? Would that make you happier than letting someone take them home for food for their friends and family?

Are you planning on going in and replanting the trees and grasses that they destroy to keep the sediments out of the streams that kill the endangered cut throught trout? How do you propose we pay for that? What about all the other habitat destruction caused by there being too many bison? Just what do you propose to do with the bison problem? I'm sure the Montana Fish wildlife and Parks would be very interested to know!

Hunting the animals is the logical choice. The program will pay for itself, and in the end everyone wins. Including the bison, by being a healthier heard and having a healthier habitat.

I’m interested to know why you’re against hunting them? They’re far from being endangered.

SO with your plan that is based on emotion rather than science you would rather see the animals die a slow lingering death and see the habitat be degraded even further in the park, than use modern science.

One way or another the bison will be killed, either by hunters or slaughter like cows by the department of Livestock. Heaven forbid a hunter and his family benefit from the experience and the meat…

They hunt them in WY and have for years, this is nothing new... I'd sure like to know your reason for being so adimatly against this?

The reintro of wolves has proved benifitail for the elk population. The habitat is better for it, but the wolves have little impact on the exploding bison population.

Come on I want to hear some well thought out answers... How can you vote on something when you don't know jack about it?

10. I'm against hunting the bison because
I am against hunting. And shooting those bison would be like shooting cows in a pasture. They are used to seeing humans.

11. I disagree, strongly. How else to control overpopulation?
Edited on Wed Jun-16-04 11:23 AM by truthspeaker
Bison are easier on the land than cattle and their meat is healthier. As long as they are no longer endangered, why not hunt them? The wolves can't control the population on their own.

I voted "yes".
