Dean supporters look set to
smash the latest fundraising bat as many as 24 hours ahead of schedule.
From early morning around midnight, Saturday, through 6 p.m. Eastern time on Monday, December 15th, Dean supporters have contributed about $350,000 toward this $400,000 goal.
This bat was raised because of the attack ads now being run by the shadowy
"Americans for Jobs, Healthcare & Progressive Values" group. This group consists of Kerry's and Gephardt's former senior employees, but the group will not identify its financial backers. The TV ad uses a single zoomed-in image of Osama Bin Laden and tries to tie Dean to the most-wanted terrorist. The ad has earned the wrath of Dean supporters (and others) who have already raised more funds online than the sponsors of the ad are spending to run it.
The Dean campaign has called on the Kerry and Gephardt campaigns to simply denounce the ad and its despicable tactics in a quick official statement, but they have remained silent thus far.
Dean is getting close to that $400,000 goal, but he's not quite there yet.
