Isn't is sickening the way they play up this capture as if it were some great victory. The dude was ina hole and besides, where is bin Laden? I haven't seen or heard one report where someone actually says, "great, but why are we surrounding this guy with 600 soldiers and letting bin Laden wander around the countryside?" The truth is it's easier to get Hussein. We can't simply put 100,000 troops in Pakistan and there's been no real effort to get more involved in that part of the world. There is simply no long term benefit in the minds of the administration to having a prosperous Afghanistan. They have no oil!!
I also love how the media would like to turn this in to a repudiation of Dean. As if capturing Hussein (something everyone assumed would happen sooner or later) has anything to do with whether we should be spedning billions of dollars fighting and occupying that country. I'm sorry but a guy in a whole isn't 1/10 as threatening to us as say, Kim Jung Il or some crazy mofo in Iran.
Sorry, I had to vent.
