2004 upset predictions!
Let's be gutsy!

Pick an upset House, Senate race, and Governor's race in 2004! Plus, pick a state in which the expected electoral vote winner gets upset. Bonus: Pick an upset in a primary state as well!

House: Jennifer Dunn (R-WA) will get knocked out.

Senate: Kit Bond (R-MO) will get taken out by Nancy Farmer.

Governor: Adios to Craig Benson (R-NH)

Electoral votes: Gore couldn't win his home state, but Bush won't repeat in Tennessee (11 electoral votes).

Primary (ready for this one?): I predict Dick Gephardt will actually win Iowa.

20. AWD is from Canton. He is a "Canton Bulldog"
Canton is a few miles south of Akron, which is 30 miles south of Cleveland.

5. I think there could be dem sweeps across the board.
If we get a large turnout we could lose the presidency but pick up bigtime in congress and governorships. I think we will win the GE with the right candidate.

12. Hence the title of the thread...
2004 UPSET predictions.

An 'upset' is when someone loses with hardly anyone expecting it, right?

10. Feingold will be toppled by Darrow
If Russ pulls it out, it will be because the Dem nominee (hopefully Clark) pulls him along. Wisconsin is trending to the right, despite our governor's win. Darrow is a wealthy car dealer with a highly recognized name statewide - and Tommy Thompson will be by his side, I bet.

13. Let's remember, how do candidates usually win elections?
(except in Florida in 2000)

a) By spending more money than their opponents
b) By having more money than their opponents
c) By receiving more votes than their opponents

I have some bad news to break to the Freepers trolling through DU:

Money Does Not Win Elections; Votes Do!

If money won elections, Darrow woul be cruising (no pun intended) along to victory.

17. Feingold will beat Darrow by a surprisingly large amount.
The challenge in '98 was much more formidible than Darrow. I predict Feingold wins by ten points atleast.

Benson is gone. I will go out on a limb here and predict he will face a primary challenge this year.

14. My upset predictions
House-John Kline loses reelection in Minnesota to For. State Sen. Deanna Wiener.

Senate-Incumbents Kit Bond and Jim Bunning are ousted in a terrific year for Democrats in the Senate, losing to Nancy Farmer and Jonathan Miller, respectively.

Governor-Utah elects Scott Matheson, Jr. by a small margin, joining Kansas, Wyoming, and Oklahoma in the states with Democratic governors list.

President-Ohio, after years of going Republican, goes Democratic, sending Bush packing.

Primary-Clark receives second place in New Hampshire and goes on to win South Carolina.

19. The state is
Look at the morons who get elected in Ohio. Voinovich? DeWine? My representative is David Hobson, a two bit punk. And I'm not even going to start on that liar Taft.

Ohio went for Clinton in 1992, because (like the rest of the nation) we were sick of Bush and all he represented. Perot helped, as well. By '96 things had started to turn around some, and I think people wanted to give President Clinton a chance to finish what he started. Bob Dole is not an inspiring repug anyway.

21. The Ohio Democratic party is ineffectual
I was looking for a polite way to say "stinks". The previous party head was Leland, he has been gone for more than a year. I think the new guy is White. I guess he has not made an impression yet.

22. Here's some seriously unrealistic ones...
Dems pick up House seats in Texas

Dem presidential candidate wins Texas

Dem picks up Zell's senate seat in Georgia

Katherine Harris gets outsted? Well actually it can't be that hard, all we have to do is take a picture of her when she's not wearing her makeup.
