Called Social Security, and the on Hold message for calls to 800-772-1213 notes current law age 67 normal retirement age and notes the fact that the SS system is quite health financially through 2042.

After a "more retirees in future" scare message, the message notes age 67 retirement will be "fully phased in by 2027" - BUT DOES NOT NOTE THAT THIS WAS REAGAN's GIFT - and then goes on to note that despite the scare message, the system, unchanged, is quite healthy financially and can pay all required by current law benefits including cost of living increases to 2043. It actually just says all obligations are not a problem through 2042.

It then suggests that changes will needed to be made to fix the the 2043 problem at some point.

Why can't the Media say this when discussing private accounts?
