Democrats bar LaRouche from Utah primary

Perennial presidential candidate and convicted swindler Lyndon LaRouche has been barred from being a candidate in Utah's scheduled Feb. 24 unofficial Democratic primary.

LaRouche supporters issued a news release blasting state Party Chairman Donald Dunn for what they claim is an illegal and immoral disenfranchisement of voters' rights.

Dunn said he had no choice in the matter because LaRouche, a convicted felon, is not registered to vote and was not registered during the latest presidential election. LaRouche served a prison sentence for mail fraud and conspiracy.

The state party committee setting up primary election rules determined that a candidate must be registered to vote to qualify. That requirement was also approved by the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

honestly, he is a fascist...his "Intelligence Review" or whatever (newspaper he publishes), it tends to show his true ideas more strongly than his campaigning. He is seeming to re make himself this time as some kind of leftist...but every other election he ran on his conspiracy theories

he has a few main flaws, ideas that aren't even worthy to consider...he wants to put the monetary system back on the gold standard...bad idea

and he believes an International Crime and Drug Cartel is ran by the Queen of England...and he say's if he were in office he would lead "regime change" on it...obviously not a good idea

13. The fact that he is not registered to vote...

should not have a bearing on whether an individual can run for an elected office.

BUT the fact that he is a convicted felon would have a bearing. A person can in some states once they have served their time register to vote. BUT even though they can register to vote in some states if not all they are prohibited by state law or state constitution from running for some or all elected offices unless they have been pardoned.

We had a repug running for a county position in 2002 that had been convicted of a felon and it wasn't revealed until after the deadline for removal I believe. The repugs in this area tried to say that he had served his time and had been a model citizen ever since.

There was talk about introducing legislation in this year's General Assembly to allow some felons to be eligible to run for elected office in the state. Personally, I feel they are going about it all wrong. They should instead consider reducing some violations from felony to misdemeanor or infraction. As it is, in this state the Governor is allowed to pardoned individuals.

14. I dont know much about LaRouche

but what little I have read of his proposals seems to be revolutionary. he seems to be pretty well respected by progressives in Latin America and I have read his ideas there (well 1 or 2)and it was banking reform and reform that had to do with bankers swindling the nation Brazil. LaRouche even eplained that the money drained from the Brazillian people could be used for a full employment plan involving massive infrastructure building. He seemed quite sincere to me and had lots of vision. I never read any of his proposals for any other nations though. Ive been meaning to study him more. laRouche seems to have quite an infrastrusture himself (lol) and Im refering to lots of ..um..spys he seems to have in banking circles. He sounds like a real watchdog to me. However if he relly is anti-semitic (as many seem to reflex the second his name comes up) then of coarse I will be concerned but Jews are free of persecution in our hemisphere outside of Cuba so I dont know what groups he was playing to (if he even said anything anti-semitic , honestly I think he probabilly was caught saying something out of context about certain bankers ethnicity but I have no clue).My (sort of) hero and former law enforcment officer of our nation Ramsey Clark has said LaRouche was innocent. I believe it.One of these days Im going to sincerely study what LaRouche has really done and what his real views and especially proposals are. Im glad he has stuck around all this time and kept on going even if he is a "wacko" .

curiously that typiifies his supporters. Their fevered and very studied views are not so much bad as insulated to the point of indistinguishable madness. Irrationality in the pursuit of ego is not something they would admit and it sounds very insulting when some of their intentions are sincere and good. But none of it is stable.

As for appealing ideas, besides the occasional agreement you are forced to have if they drag powerful causes and reasoning into their tent, it is always refreshing when someone breaks out of the status quo and goes for it, regardless of common sense.

You just don't want them running your government. They could more easily become the objects of their own paranoia and behave as they perceive the "enemy" does. O'Reilly shares the same syndrome.
