BURLINGTON--Congresswoman Diane Watson (CA-33) today endorsed Governor Dean, citing, "Governor Dean shares my position on the tough issues facing our country, including opposition to the invasion of Iraq; belief that Bush's immigration policy will create a permanent under class of service workers with second-class status; provide all higher education students with federal grants or loans, depending on family income level: and provide college loan relief for participants in an expanded AmeriCorps national service program."
"I am proud that Congresswoman Watson has joined the 575,000 Americans who want to take their country back in 2004," Governor Dean said. "During the two decades that she served in the State Senate and her time in the U.S. Congress, she has distinguished herself as an advocate of urban communities, as well as a strong voice for consumers, women and children."
From 1998 to 2001, Watson served as the United States Ambassador to the Federated States of Micronesia. She ran for Congress in a special election after the death of Congressman Julian Dixon, and then was reelected in 2002.

Watson also serves as a member of the Progressive Caucus and Chairs the Congressional Entertainment Caucus. Watson was recently appointed to the Executive Board of the National Democratic Committee.
