Support Joe Hoeffel (PA)
Democrats have set their sights on Republican Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, a presidential swing state where a strong Democratic nominee could help Senate hopefuls.
Specter is viewed as particularly vulnerable, since he is the only sitting senator facing a Republican primary challenge. If he survives the primary against conservative Rep. Pat Toomey, Specter would face Congressman Joe Hoeffel in the general election. Hoeffel is widely considered one of the strongest Democrats to challenge Specter in a Senate race.
Now in his third term in the House, Hoeffel works to promote fiscal restraint, balance the federal budget, pay down the national debt, reform education, improve international relations, protect the environment, and expand health care.
In Congress, Hoeffel has a 93% rating with the League of Conservation Voters. On the PeacePAC index, he achieved 87%. He voted against new nuclear weapons, nuclear tipped missile interceptors, weapons in space and missile defense. While he did vote for the IWR, he also organized the weekly Iraq Watch debate in the House to critique the Bush Administration's performance in Iraq. He voted against providing the additional $87 billion for military and reconstruction, forcing an amendment that required Bush to submit a schedule for the transfer of power to the Iraqi people, a schedule for the provision of financial and military assistance from other nations and an estimate of how long the troops will be in Iraq. He has been endorsed by the Council for a Livable World Candidate Fund.
This Pennsylvania election is important because it is one of the few opportunities in the 2004 election to oust a member of the solid Republican bloc supporting the President's dangerous and extreme national security policies. Please donate what you can to this liberal Democrat.
http://www.wesclarkdemocrats.com/races.aspWes Clark Democrats have donated $17,597.98 to congressional races in the past several weeks and pledged an additional $3,603.00. Please, let's do as much as possible to support Democrats across the country. As you know, it is critically important.
Wes Clark Democrats have also contributed $27,585.40 to John Kerry. The actual figure is much higher, as this reflects only those who participate in this particular website. On Clark's fundraising day for Kerry's $10M/10 day fundraiser, more than $2M was raised. Clark supporters drafted Wes into the primary and we are determined to pay down our debt. Wes is out doing his damnedest raising funds for Kerry and the Democratic Party and not raising any for himself. If you are maxed out on John Kerry, and if you are not maxed out on Wes Clark, and as you contribute congressional candidates, if you well off enough to help, please contribute to our campaign debt.
