CA Recall Election - 296 Candidates!!!!!
Edited on Sat Aug-02-03 09:19 PM by LeftCoast
At this point there are 141 official candidates and 155 unofficial candidates in the race. Several are named Gray Davis. Boy is this going to be a madhouse.

The above link will probably be a good one to bookmark for anyone interested in this issue.

On edit: Larry Flint of Hustler Magazine fame is also running. Oh boy!

2. Not exactly
296 have obtained the forms to apply.

They still need to be willing to pay $3500 and collect some signatures. The final number may be much lower.

3. Most won't pay the $3500
My guess is most of these folks won't waste the $3500 or will have problems getting the 65 signatures. None the less looks like the CA voters will havemany choices!
Does anyone know what order they will be listed on the ballot?
Alphabetically?
First come first listed?
Random?
Major parties first?

5. the order
I believe the list is going to be mixed in random order and that the order will differ from county to county, giving every candidate a fair chance.

9. heh...Michael Jackson?
I'm sure there are plenty of Michael Jacksons here in CA.

I guess I should have joined the pack; being governor for a year or two might be fun, and I could clean up public ed in a snap. Of course, the rest of the state would fall to pieces.

Ah well <sigh>. I'll just stick to voting "no" on the recall.

7. Ha! Let's get an initiative on the ballot that makes all candidates co-Gov
Or like the top 100 vote getters get to be co-governers!!!!!!!!

We'll just turn the gov's office into a big ole chamber much like the senate!!!

8. Or maybe they can serve alphabetically
Like they are apparently planning to do in Iraq. A month of Riordan would be followed by a month of Savage, now wouldn't that be fun?

11. Looks like Issa is stretching the truth again
I looked at the candidates' status page above. There is no Darrell Issa but there is a S. Issa.
