I would love to see a change in the name of the parties to Liberal Party and Conservative Party to avoid the confusions of history. It would also allow people to choose their affiliations on something concrete and contemporary rather on what party their parents belonged to. The current Democrats are not the party that spawned Strom Thurmond or Jesse Helms and the current Republicans have nothing to do with Lincoln or Eisenhower. And please can someone mention the changes going on in Texas which is no longer reliably red. In my city here in the past week over 600 people were registered and all across the state this has been happening; most will probably vote Democratic. Yet there is no mention of this anywhere. It needs to be part of the narrative of this cycle.:bounce:

well, technically it is the November surprise, but you catch my meaning.
Since registration ends in Oct, it sort of qualifies as an October surprise.
