Of course it isn't Fascism. It is however fascism.
It has the same goals, same methods and same results. It come from the same sets of people, but it is not Feudalism or Fascism. It is however fascism. These people may not be Fascists, but they are fascists. Philosophically they are the same. Exactly the same. Entirely the same. Politically they are the same. Ethically the same. But they probably don't belong to a Fascist Party.

When Eisenhower warned us, he was not wrong. When Kennedy tried to warn us, he was not wrong. When Carter fought for us, he was not wrong.

I pray that Gandhi's prophecy comes true before Jefferson's prophecy does.

Remember Fascism always fails. Greedy bastards may stick together, but they make for a sinking ship as their inside core shrinks and refines itself while excluding all but the greediest yes men. The problem is that they throw the rest of us overboard well before they drown.

They may be choosing teachers now. An amazing number of teachers have been nodding in agreement and and are still not awake. The fascists in their greed have thrown over a group of mostly married, and conservative voters. A lot of them may still believe the rest of the propaganda, but every single time the teachers hear that teachers are greedy bastards they have a chance to see that these folks are lying.

2. Agreed!
Yes, Benito Mussolini isn't up on the balcony jutting out his chin, but he would sympathize with what the Republicans and plutocrats are doing here.

3. Henry A. Wallace - The Danger of American Fascism
Edited on Mon Sep-05-11 04:45 PM by Skip_In_Boulder
From the 33rd Vice President of the United States (1941–1945)

The Danger of American Fascism

Henry A. Wallace

An article in the New York Times, April 9, 1944.
From Henry A. Wallace, Democracy Reborn (New York, 1944), edited by Russell Lord, p. 259.

On returning from my trip to the West in February, I received a request from The New York Times to write a piece answering the following questions:

What is a fascist?
How many fascists have we?
How dangerous are they?

A fascist is one whose lust for money or power is combined with such an intensity of intolerance toward those of other races, parties, classes, religions, cultures, regions or nations as to make him ruthless in his use of deceit or violence to attain his ends. The supreme god of a fascist, to which his ends are directed, may be money or power; may be a race or a class; may be a military, clique or an economic group; or may be a culture, religion, or a political party.

The perfect type of fascist throughout recent centuries has been the Prussian Junker, who developed such hatred for other races and such allegiance to a military clique as to make him willing at all times to engage in any degree of deceit and violence necessary to place his culture and race astride the world. In every big nation of the world are at least a few people who have the fascist temperament. Every Jew-baiter, every Catholic hater, is a fascist at heart. The hoodlums who have been desecrating churches, cathedrals and synagogues in some of our larger cities are ripe material for fascist leadership.

The obvious types of American fascists are dealt with on the air and in the press. These demagogues and stooges are fronts for others. Dangerous as these people may be, they are not so significant as thousands of other people who have never been mentioned. The really dangerous American fascists are not those who are hooked up directly or indirectly with the Axis. The FBI has its finger on those. The dangerous American fascist is the man who wants to do in the United States in an American way what Hitler did in Germany in a Prussian way. The American fascist would prefer not to use violence. His method is to poison the channels of public information. With a fascist the problem is never how best to present the truth to the public but how best to use the news to deceive the public into giving the fascist and his group more money or more power.

4. What an excellent discourse. How frighteningly clear it makes our present day.
"we must all be on our guard against intolerance, bigotry and the pretension of invidious distinction"

It seems that it is this charge that liberals of the '70s and '80s failed to do. The wave of conservatism unfortunately has gotten the better of us. But it seems of late we have had enough of conservatives and their march toward full-out fascism. There is no victory lap to be had. We must stop these fools from sending us all into abject poverty and from there learn what it means to be on our guard for all time.

5. You're absolutely right.
I've been saying this about the GOP for years. Don't worry, people are waking up.

6. Not just the GOP
It's not just the GOP. Remember, Obama signed the PATRIOT Act extension and Harry Reid railroaded it through the Senate.
