Huntsman: “I Wouldn’t Necessarily Trust Any Of My Opponents Right Now” On The Economy

Call him crazy, but former Utah Gov. and former Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman is doubling down on his criticism of climate change skepticism as "not a winning formula" for the GOP in 2012, while calling out his opponents in the Republican presidential primary on their willingness to let the US default on its debt.

In an interview to be broadcast on ABC's This Week on Sunday, Jake Tapper asked Huntsman about his shots at Tex. Gov. Rick Perry's contention that evolution is "a theory that's out there," but not a sure thing, nor is the idea of climate change. Last week Huntsman tweeted his take, "To be clear. I believe in evolution and trust scientists on global warming. Call me crazy."

Tapper asked, "Were you just being cheeky or do you think there's a serious problem with what Governor Perry said?" Huntsman's response: "I think there's a serious problem. The minute that the Republican Party becomes the party - the anti-science party, we have a huge problem. We lose a whole lot of people who would otherwise allow us to win the election in 2012."

He goes on to slam the GOP for being anti-science:

"When we take a position that isn't willing to embrace evolution, when we take a position that basically runs counter to what 98 of 100 climate scientists have said, what the National Academy of Science - Sciences has said about what is causing climate change and man's contribution to it, I think we find ourselves on the wrong side of science, and, therefore, in a losing position....I can't remember a time in our history where we actually were willing to shun science and become a - a party that - that was antithetical to science. I'm not sure that's good for our future and it's not a winning formula."

I can see why Obama reached across the aisle to this guy. He is too reasonable to be the GOP nominee, LOL. They'll nominate a teabagger like Perry.

If he can convince enough voters that he'll be moderate maverick that McCrazed claimed to be, Huntsman could scoop up the religious moderates, independents, Hispanics, and ex-Bushies who put Obama over the top...

3. I'm getting the sense

the right wing really hates Huntsman. I was reading some comments on a news site that posted this article andthe venom for Huntsman is out there big time. He's definitely not hateful or crazy enough to warrant the support of the clowns who like Bachmann and Perry.

He won't be going anywhere.

Because he ran Utah almost like a Democrat. We all miss him, because his Lt Governor is on the other end of the spectrum entirely.

He doesn't have a chance of getting the nomination, though, and even if he got it and won it, he'd never be allowed to run the country the way he did here.

9. Making too much sense

Being a Democrat, this guy scares the hell out of me. He makes too much sense. Lets hope his campaign doesn't gain traction.
