Edited on Sat Oct-29-11 03:45 PM by sam11111
Seems we could feed four OWS folks with canned pinto beans

For the same money we now feed

one person with pizza.

Gristedes may still deliver (I know they have flaws - any know of a better grocer?)

The LW is always low on money-- so shouldn't we send cheaper food to OWS?

PS many cannot handle sugar ( diabetes, or teeth trouble) so pls send plain vegetables in that can - no fancy sauces, no fruit.

1. Fresh Direct?
Fairway, Food Emporium, D'Agostino's, Trader Joe's. Lots of places deliver but will they deliver to a city park is the question.

2. With the cold and the snow, you're suggesting a cold can of beans without a can-opener
versus a hot pizza that has protein and carbs?

4. No fruit?
Provides energy to deal with the cold.

5. I think just money is best.
That way those actually present can decide what is most needed and purchase it. NYC OWS has also been sharing funds with other Occupy locations.

6. Help a local food shelter.
Nobody is starving at OWS. They are pretty well funded for now. I believe they have spent about 10% of their first half million. Local food pantries are always struggling to meet demand.
