Another Lie about Howard Dean and what he said with links to disprove it

I was incorrect in that Dean was referring to John Ashcroft and not John Kerry, sorry for the mix up. But he did say John, when he knew John Kerry was his oppenent's names as well, so he should be careful about. And we all know Dean has attack Kerry numerous times.

He also said: "I also would entertain taking the retirement age to 68."

and

"We’ve talked a little bit about how to do that. Maybe you look at the retirement age going to 68."

In the Arnolds Park Forum, which many Dean supporters have on tape, he says that Kucinich was incorrect in saying that he wanted to move the age to 68.

In the Illionis Forum this last week, he said he never said he wanted the retirment age to be moved to 70. This is clearly misleading people. And don't say he forgot, he just said two months ago, you can't forget that, and if he did, he will most likely forget everything else he says.

Yes, I guess we got to play with the definition. When he said "68" twice I sure he really meant 68 year on Venus too. I mean there 68 would be about 66 years instead, we shouldn't be fools and not realize these things, what he says and what he means are two different things, which is good for a political that is relying on communication to be the key to winning.

WASHINGTON -- Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean said Wednesday that he misspoke when he told the AFL-CIO he never favored raising the retirement age for Social Security benefits to age 70.

Dean acknowledged that he had called for such an increase when the country was faced with a deficit in 1995, but said he no longer thinks it is necessary. He said former President Clinton set an example of balancing the budget without raising the retirement age.

When Dean notices he made a mistake, he has been correcting himself immediately. I am respecting that, alot.

I'm *very* impressed with this and his solution to balancing the budget, above.

I'm also impressed with the short list of Dean's misstatements that the AP is building at the bottom of all Dean apologies.

And I'm wondering where Bush's list is.

Has it occurred to you that most people here view your ilk as a joke? Anybody who spends this much energy attempting to attack a single candidate loses all credibility.

I'll say it straight. Dean misspoke. He immediately addressed the issue, admitting that he did say it in 1995, but doesn't feel it's necessary any more.

but I will say that I find the "gotcha" game very unattractive, no matter who does it. There are tons of things that EVERYONE says that can be pulled out and used and twisted. I thought Kucinich's little ploy was the sign of a desperate man and I just regret that Dean didn't ignore him.

Do we not have enough on our plates trying to defeat Bush that we need to do searches and quotes and blahblahblah in order to discredit another DEM?
