Janeane Garofalo: NewsMax is Picking on Howard Dean
Comedienne-turned-anti-war activist Janeane Garofalo complained on Sunday that NewsMax.com is one of three powerful conservative media voices trying to marginalize presidential hopeful, former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean.

"The proof that is a real threat is how much Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity's radio show picks on him - or NewsMax.com," Garofalo told HBO's "Real Time" with Bill Maher. "That is proof that he's a real threat."

While we'd love to accept Garofalo's backhanded compliment, the truth is NewsMax has written far less about Dean than his Democratic Party rivals. And when we have covered, say, his decision to stop drinking in his 30s, our take was overwhelmingly positive.

Question for the "Rove wants Dean" folks here. If Rove wants Dean so badly, why have his minions been hitting the Anti-Dean notes so hard the past couple of weeks?

2. So, wouldn't they be in lockstep with each other?
The Rove cheering Dean at 4th of July Parede has been debunked anyway, but wouldn't they be on the same page with Rove if he was trying to grease the wheels for Dean?

3. Reverse Psychology
Question for the "Rove wants Dean" folks here. If Rove wants Dean so badly, why have his minions been hitting the Anti-Dean notes so hard the past couple of weeks?

Because whenever they attack Dean (or any other candidate for that matter) his supporters always say something like:

Look at how they're going after __________! The Bushies/Rove must be terrifed of him! That's why he should be the nominee!

4. any floridians here?
in the democratic primary campaign for last year's governor election, jebush ran ads against mcbride. so everyone said they must be scared of him and we all voted for mcbride over reno. turned out he was one of the worst candidates i've seen.

i think they're doing the same thing here.

7. Their strategy is the same, but the quality of the candidate is much
different. Howard Dean is a professional politician with empathy for the common person. McBride was a lawyer and inexperienced polititican, who screwed up when he fired his first campaign manager who helped him beat Reno for an inexperienced one, who was tied to the teachers union, that Jeb maliciously attacked.

Joe Trippi knows what he is doing and he finally has a candidate who is a WINNER and it is showing in the campaign contributions and the large crowds coming to see Howard Dean.

And so forth.

I like Garafalo, but this is like complaining that the National Review is biased towards Bush.

6. Newsmax forwards pornographic email to children
There was an F.B.I. investigation involving such a case. I don't really pay attention to anything Newsmax has to say.

8. Newsmax dumps on Kerry the most.
Dean practically gets a free ride in comparison.

9. "Practically Gets"
Uhm, does not.

By your perception, it seems Dean is getting a free ride, because you want to see more negative press targeted towards Dean. My perception is NewsMax has been spreading the hate equally.
