My wife protested his ass several times when she was in school and said he behaved like a total prick when he saw the protesters....

at least that is what the wife of a Republican insider in New York told me when he was running for Governor the first time. Her husband was Chief of Staff for someone in the New York State Senate, and thought Pataki was a real dummy. I thought that was very interesting.
