Al and Tipper Gore Coming to Wilmington (N.C.) Area Next Week

Just as he did twice as Vice President, Al Gore is returning to Figure Eight Island, a private resort island just north of Wilmington, to vacation with Tipper and his family next week. It's likely the Gores--with a small advance contingent--will again be staying at the home of the owner of a sporting goods store chain.

Sen. John Edwards also owns a house on Figure Eight island. No word yet from his staff or from Al Gore's staff if the two will meet next week. Edwards is currently campaigning in Iowa.
