Kucinich on Blackout. And: Willie/Ani DiFranco in Concert
"POWER TO THE PEOPLE, MY STORY"
Throughout Dennis Kucinich's political career, he has battled for public power and against privatization and deregulation. Today, he's demanding answers about the massive power failure that rocked our country, a blackout that reports indicate may have started within the FirstEnergy Corp system. Dennis fought First Energy's predecessor, Cleveland Electric (CEI), when he saved Cleveland's city-owned utility in the late 1970s.

He told his story over the weekend in a compelling essay. To read

3. Dennis has sthe strongest leadership qualities
of any of the candidates. If the people decide to go for the best leader, Kucinich will be President.

4. I don't doubt that Dennis is a great candidate
I am torn on my support - I heard yet another great speech from him yesterday on MPR. However, if Clark would declare I think you might have admit that Supreme Commander of NATO wins hands down in the leadership category - and, I think at this point folks better consider Clark a candidate - named or unnamed.

5. Kucinich supports labor more than the other current candidates
Do you know if Clark is the least supportive of labor?

6. I don't know yet, that will be a consideration

Like I've posted before, I don't have to vote on this for some time, will not start campaigning until I have all the facts, but expect to knwo my candidate by October or so. Did not mean to depreciate Dennis with my comment.

On edit I remove my concern about that vote - It is a tricky wording and he appeared to go on the good side.

Tell me more about his stance on Labor - its not my only area of concern, but would like to know more. I actually do want to like him.

10. DK was with the dockworkers when the employers locked them out,
and the "President" invoked the Taft-Hartley Act.HE'S FOR REPEALING THAT SECTION OF THE TAFT-HARTLEY ACT THAT MAKES WORKERS GO BACK TO WORK UNDER THEIR OLD CONTRACT.He has walked in solidarity with hotel & service workers, the ones who have suffered the most from poor pay, replacement if they want a union, and no health benefits. He is DEFINITELY for steelworkers, since he has those in his home district.

His record is just OUTSTANDING!!If you go to his Congressional site at: http://www.house.gov/kucinich/issues/workerrights.htm
you can download ELEVEN PAGES of instances in which he has been for different types of worker rights!!

11. Dennis is best for workers rights
I don't mean this in a bad way for Gephardt fans, but Kucinich hasn't missed a vote this session, while Gephardt actually missed the chance to put in at least one deciding vote this session while he was out campaigning.

8. in the boonies
Dang, I didn't know he was touring with Ani DiFranco.

I missed Willie when he was out here in Spokane and Pendelton, and now I'm kicking myself because it doesn't look like he'll be back in the NW for a while.

And neither will DiFranco.

Is there any way to benefit Kucinich by buying recordings?

9. What a great idea!
I don't know of anything available yet, but maybe after there's been a concert, releasing the live album would be a cool moneymaker!
