Women's Groups to Announce Endorsement of Presidential Candidate for 2004 Race

Because women's issues will play a prominent role in the 2004 presidential election, two of the top women's groups in the nation will announce their candidate endorsement on Women's Equality Day, August 26. The National Organization for Women PAC and the National Women's Political Caucus are encouraging their members, and all women's rights supporters, to work to elect a presidential candidate with a demonstrated commitment to women's issues.

What: Announcement of Endorsement in 2004 Presidential Election

Who: Kim Gandy, President, National Organization for Women PAC
Roselyn O'Connell, President, National Women's Political Caucus
2004 Presidential Candidate

When: Tuesday, August 26, 12:30 p.m.

Where: National Press Club, 529 14th Street NW, Washington, D.C., First
Amendment Room

NOW/PAC and the National Women's Political Caucus emphasize that women's rights are in great danger under the current administration. In order to advance women's equality in the United States and around the globe, a strong women's rights supporter must be elected to the White House in 2004.

The endorsements from these powerful groups are designed to return fairness and justice to the highest office in our country.

I hear that they will endorse Carol Mosely Braun, who I like, but will not support for President. This N.O.W. member supports Governor Howard Dean. Unlike Rep. Kucinich, Dean has championed women's rights, especially reproductive rights. If Braun gets the official endorsement, I hope that Dean was the #2 pick. There is no way that I'd ever donate to N.O.W. again, if they choose Rep. Kucinich after all those years when he opposed abortion.

1. I hear that it'll be Braun, too.
And when she drops out, she'll support Dean. Guaranteed.

3. Carol's staying in the race but she's expressed support for Dennis
With the endorsement of N.O.W., she'll be in the race to the finish line. She would make a great contrast to the beat-em-up cowboy apporach of Dubya.

4. DK is the only other candidate that I support financially, so I'd
have no problem with that. However, Dean already has Braun's former campaign manager on his team and will likely receive a position in his admin (should he be elected). You never know.

2. I heard they were endorsing Carol
And she definitly deserves their endorsement. She's a great candidate and the only woman in the race though I'm supporting Kucinich. On the issue of a woman's right to choose, Kucinch has the most liberal position, being the only candidate who would use Roe v. Wade as a litmus test. Dean won't commit to not appointing anti-choice justices who will overturn Roe v. Wade. I would like to see a Kucinich-Moseley-Braun ticket.
