What kind of dirty tricks do you expect Chimpy & Co to pull?
Imagine (insert your favorite candidate here) wins the Democratic nomination and goes on to face Bush. What kind of dirty tricks do you expect from them this time around? By then, the economy and the situation in Iraq will both be totally in the crapper.

What kinds of things do you expect them to pull, and would it have any influence on your vote? Are there things we could do to immunize ourselves against it?

Surely they will try personal smears again, they have worked just fine for them in the past. What should we expect?

I expect Bush to avoid debates at all cost.

What else would they try to pull? Maybe trying to show the candidate has been paid off by the RNC?

I'm just curious - I'd rather be expecting and preparing for the worst, rather than being blindsided when it comes.

1. More terror alerts
I get the feeling that come next September - November, there will be lots of "new intelligence" to suggest an attack is coming. I also aspect a few "big" arrests of terrorists "about to do harm to all free peoples."

I don't think they could pull off a full war, but I could see some "surgical strikes aimed at Al Qaeda."

Just my thoughts.

3. right before the election, a huge assault of total lies
negative lies about the dem, and also lies about Bush's accomplishments.

They will be totally without shame, and they will be discredited after the election.

I think I heard that Rove's strategy for spending campaign money is to spend almost nothing until after the GOP convention, which they are pushing back later into September. So there will be a shorter period in which to rebut any TV ads.

9. this is more along the lines that I was thinking of
what kind of lies do you think they will use? which ones do you think moron-americans will be most susceptible to? How do we counter them (in a timely way)?

I wish we had more left-leaning (or even neutral) outlets in the media to work from.

5. Proscribing the Democratic Party as a terrorist organization...
... arresting its leaders, forbidding it to organize, and "interviewing" all registered Democrats.

Nothing is beneath the Repugs. That's why they must be defeated utterly.

8. The electronic voting will give them the election
Tha's my main concern. Unless the Democratic Party wakes up and acts fast, it doesn't matter who we run. With electronic voting, the Democrats don't stand a chance - even if the Democrats win by a landslide.

We already know that Bush is moving the Republican convention so he can grandstand on the 9-11 issue. Kevin Shelly (who seems more of a Republican than a Democrat) is working to get Bush on the California ballot - even though Bush would be inelgibile because of the late Republicans convention. Apparently Shelley feels it's not an insult to the vicitms of 9-11 to allow Bush to grandstand over their bodies while still being able to change the rules to get on the ballot.

11. I thought that election deadlines were the
most sancrosanct of laws upheld by the Republicans. Witness 2000. Witness Torricelli. Huh. Maybe they are evil hypocrites.

Electronic voting worries me quite a bit, too. One thing we have to do is to fight it, and also to keep as much polling going on before the election so that when the results are wildly disproportionate to the results (let's hope this doesn't happen), they are hard pressed to explain it away.

As far as pushing the convention back, I think they just don't want it to interfere with Bush's August Vacation (TM).

15. Maybe a Cheney heart attack 6 weeks before the election.
Try and draw all the attention to themselves and to the process of naming a replacement. Or an anthrax attack on Democrats thinly disguised as a terrorist plot.

I have a feeling they'll do something to Gerald Ford or Ronald Reagan that would make them die just before the election, so Bush/Cheney/Rove can say, "Let's win one for ______."

You know, Reagan is NOT doing well at all. He hardly does anything anymore. He is at the point where Thurmond was when he was in his waning days in the Senate.
