>>DOVER, NH - Senator John Edwards (D-NC) outlined his plan to help American companies create jobs today, in discussions with voters in Bedford, Portsmouth, Exeter, and a town hall meeting in Dover.
"While this president is on a month-long vacation, Americans are waiting for economic leadership," said Edwards. "Every time he says a recovery is just around the corner, another company announces another round of layoffs. We can't afford to continue the current downward spiral of deficits, layoffs, and rising local property taxes - and I have a plan to get us back on the right track."
On the fourth day of a six-day, 24-town trip across New Hampshire, Edwards highlighted his a plan to help American companies create good jobs and support workers hit hard by the Bush economy.
Edwards' plan will:
Help Businesses Protect and Create Manufacturing Jobs in the U.S. Leading Republicans in Washington are pushing to lower tax rates on the overseas operations of multinational corporations - a proposal that could actually encourage these corporations to move their jobs overseas. At the same time, they are protecting tax breaks for corporations that renounce their U.S. citizenship to avoid taxes. Edwards believes that at a time when we have lost two million manufacturing jobs, we should keep jobs here at home. He would give a 10% tax cut to corporations that produce goods domestically, keeping jobs at home. Edwards would also stop corporations from getting tax cuts for renouncing their citizenship.<<
